Mirror Mirror on the Wall
Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins.
Ecclesiastes 7:20 NIV
Today is a beautiful day indeed. Very tired from my work, standing on a bus while writing this one, but very fulfilled. How fulfilled? Well, my pending tasks are not indicative of the "fulfillment" at work, haha! But the Spirit of the Lord guided me through this day.
Let me tell you my story this lunchtime. I ate at the canteen. Another customer was ranting about the food, and he told me "hilaw" which means uncooked or not well done. He was talking to me because I ordered the same food. I just smiled at him because mine was okay, I thought there was no reason to scold the staff about the food.
He was okay with his approach to the kitchen staff. But as he was waiting for his food to be re-cooked or replaced, he had continuous ranting about his food with his colleagues.
Guess what entered my mind that time?
"Grabe naman makasita!"
"Akala mo naman boss!"
"Pwede namang manahimik, ang ingay!"
I was irritated with this guy whom I was accusing "super mean and super self-righteous" in my thoughts.
But the Spirit of the Lord poked me, and I looked at my Bible App. The Lord spoke to me through His Words. Here are the verses He gave me:
As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; - Romans 3:10 NIV
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, - Romans 3:23 NIV
Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins. - Ecclesiastes 7:20 NIV
Intermally, I was so laughing at myself! 🤣🤣🤣 My Lord reminded me: "Iza, YOU ARE EXACTLY THAT PERSON YOU ARE ANNOYED AT."
That very moment was a combination of different emotions. I was entertained at myself haha! I was shameful because my Lord was right! I was convicted because I knew I did wrong not just to the Lord but also to that person. I was happy at the same time because I felt the love of a Father to His daughter.
Though I know I can still fail at this, but I learned to become a lover of my neighbors, even my enemies, to always bear with me the fruit of the Spirit.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23 NIV
