Hungry for God
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ”
Matthew 4:4 NIV
Hello there.
So I promised that everytime I would be going back home from work that I would write devotions, testimonies, and the like, so I would spend time honoring God and His Words instead of just spending my travel time doing nothing, and ranting about the heavy traffic.
As of the current time, I feel so hungry, since the last time I ate was about 8 hours ago. I was not able to have lunch because of my work. Time flew so fast I did not notice that it was 12:30 in the noontime, and I was not also able to go out and find some food to eat since I was doing something important. Then now came.
To be honest I first opened my Facebook when I got into the bus, then I opened my favorite game. Then the Lord poked me, "my child, you need to do the devotion." So here I am.
Since I am currently in the hunger state I remembered when Jesus was fasting for forty days and forty nights, and He was tempted by the devil.
Hmmmm~ Seems like this was how I was tempted to not do this devotion and just spend my travel time doing my games.
Then the Lord reminded me through His Words: Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’ ” -Matthew 4:4 NIV
Literally in the story, Jesus was so hungry! There is no denying that He is God, but He became human and lived on this earth, and He felt just the same hunger we feel especially when we don't eat on time. But He was not tempted.
I am still hungry as of this portion of my writing. However, I feel so refreshed and full of love because I read and wrote about the Bread of Life! Remember, Jesus is the Bread of Life, for everyday consumption, not "cake" for special occasions.
Matthew 5:6 also reminds us, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled." Indeed my hunger for food made me dependent on God for relief, but He gave me so much more!!! I am blessed!!!
Praise, Honor, Glory to God the Highest! Hallelujah!
