The Real Asset
"Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."
Psalm 20:7
We live in a materialistic world. Of course we need physical food for our bodies, we need our clothes, our shelter, our beds, our kitchen and eating utensils, our phones, our gadgets and of course, money, to live comfortably.
We also need to earn money by investing. And by investing we become ASSET owners. In business, we need ASSETS to ensure the inflow of earnings and economic benefits in our business. Without ASSETS, we have no business.
Why am I referring to these examples? In verse 7a it says "some trust in chariots and some in horses," in which we can see here the equivalent of an ASSET in an army - the importance of chariots and horses in a battle during those times. If you have these ASSETS, you have edge! You have bigger chances of victory in a war.
In the life of a Christian, says in verse 7b, "but we trust in the name of the Lord our God." We trust God more than the physical things. We value our relationship with God more than anything else.
I remember years ago, a classmate of mine celebrated his birthday and some of us gave him small tokens and gifts. One of our classmate said "I have no gift for you, but I am giving you my prayers." Everyone laughed! Me and my classmates thought it was a silly joke.
When I became Christian I learned the importance of prayer, by having it personally, or giving it to others as a blessing, just like in verses 1-5. I realize that a gift of prayer is the best gift one could ever receive, and it is not a silly joke as how we perceived it back then.
We trust in our assets, but we trust in the Lord more than ever!
Praises and Glory to Jesus our Lord!
