Freedom is a Gift of God

Didn’t we say to you in Egypt, ‘Leave us alone; let us serve the Egyptians’? It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the desert!”
Exodus 14:12 NIV

In this story, it was when God saved the Israelites from the slavery of the Egyptians, when Moses stretched out his hand and the waters were divided (v21).

What captured my attention here was in verse 12, when the Israelites were complaining about what was happening. They would rather choose to continue being slaves than to experience this struggle which was actually a step to their freedom.

We, human beings, have this tendency of thinking that it is more comfortable to remain in a situation we do not deserve, just because we are afraid to leave our comfort zones and find our real destination according to the will of God.

Remember, God's will is good, pleasing, and perfect will (Romans 12:2). He will never leave us nor forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:8). Our own will is different from God's will. Just like the Israelites, we may not understand what God is planning to do with our lives, but if we only be still (v14) and trust God's process, we will become free from the bondage and slavery of situations which are not beneficial for us.

This devotion is so liberating for me, since I am planning to get out of my comfort zone, career-wise. Please pray for me.

Thank You Jesus! We praise and glorify Your holy Name!
